Life and its General Nonsense

Of Trust Fund Babies

Posted by: Ciiku on: March 17, 2011

We know them. Or have heard of them. These children of “old” money in Kenya. Acting like the Rockefellers’ of this country. You don’t know what they do for a living but they are always sporting trendy cars and always have an overflow of cash to throw around.  They get into accidents for drunken driving and the next day are sporting another ride. They never miss at the bash of bashes and they frown upon children of “new” money.

When did Kenya become so “aristocratic”?? The first time I heard someone tell me that a certain guy was “old money”, I wondered to myself, since when? Is it his? Of course NOT! It is his father or his grandfather’s money. But unlike his father, he takes no interest in the family business or wealth or where it comes from. What matters to him is he can sport the HSE or the Mercedes Sport and that whenever there is a concert, he is hanging out in the VIP section. Does he care that money can end? No. As far as he is concerned, that is something his parents should worry about. Not forgetting that at some point, his father will die and HE will have to figure out where all the money he spends comes from [not from the ATM or cheque like before].

It’s such a shame that this generation of ours has produced some children who do nothing. They wait to be given pocket money or have trust funds. They even go further to ask for their inheritance to be given to them BEFORE the parents pass away. How now?? I am not absolving the parents from any blame (since it’s about upbringing) but in my opinion, no matter how psychopathic you are, you know what is right and what is wrong. So yeah, if I see your lazy and pampered self out and about walking around like you don’t use the bathroom, I will say a prayer, that you may see the light.

The picture of the day: Yaya Towers 2. What an eyesore this building is?? And how long will this case stay in court? They just need to bring this building down.
