Highlights

This just came to me as I sat here at my desk, one of the 25% of Kenyans who are still working this week!

Highlights of 2009

In Music

Susan Boyle – That viral video was amazing and Im glad she is going places
Sam & Ruby – Granted I discovered them very late in the year but they are FANTASTIC!

BLACKsummersnight – Maxwell’s new album DID NOT disappoint!

Lady Gaga needs to melt into nothingness!

Black Eyed Peas need to retire ASAP!

I wish they would lock Lil’ Wayne up and throw away the keys! For Life!

I also sadly realised that there is a chance that R&B in its truest sense, IS DEAD. Im seriously inconsolable!

Edit!

Sauti Sol anyone? Lazizi??!! Fantastic stuff!

And Kenyan gospel is going places! Kiriro, Huratiti….. Just amazing songs! I also like DNA’s song – Mtoto wa Sonko!

In Movies

Sadly, I have not watched a WOW movie this year! [Will watch Avatar and Law Abiding Citizen and see what the rackus is all about!]

Wait… I take it back…. Taken was released in 2009. That was a good movie!

I should mention that I havent watched these movies:

  • District 9
  • Inglourious Basterds

Can someone tell me if Boondocks Saints 2 was any good???

And I cant believe they thought of making Ace Ventura 3. Are they serious???

In Books

I read Tara Road. FANTASTIC!
Pillars of the Earth – AMAZING!

Now, these are old books, but what can I say? I read them in 2009 and therefore MUST feature in this list!

Sigh

Double Standards

Posted by: ciikusmess on: December 16, 2009

A Kenyan couple walks on the street. Holding hands. He leans over to kiss her forehead. An old man in his head thinks that the young generation has lost its moral compass. An old lady thinks that parents of these days don’t teach their children manners. A 30 something year old dude/dudette wishes they would just get a room already.

If it was a white couple, these thoughts would PROBABLY not cross these people’s minds!!

Double Standards? I think so!

If someone comes here and talks to me about African Tradition on PDA, I will e-slap you! If we were still leaving in the age when African Traditions were being upheld, we would not have words like “Chips Funga” in our dictionary! SO please, spare me that nonsense!

Back to my point, I honestly didnt understand how we [yes I am guilty of it] became so hypocritical and judgemental but facts are facts.

We apply double standards to many things that even when I began to think and comprehend the issue, it was too much and too ridiculous! I had to stop! Trying to be better!!
