Life and its General Nonsense

Hiatus – The last episode

THIS BLOG IS CLOSED

My dear readers,

After almost 6 years of writing on this blog, it is time for me to call it quits. For many of you who still read this blog, you know it all started after a very nasty breakup and for me, it was an avenue to vent my frustration and my anger. After I got over that, and my hatred for men (read old blog posts for further information), it became a random blog where I voiced my opinion about many things. And now, I feel as though the time has come for me to move on.

Recently, I have been blogging on my wedding planning blog and even this blog, after the wedding will break [sorry guys but I can't].

However I am glad to say that I will start a new blog [because the truth is, I love writing] about being newly married and life after the wedding and being a yuppie in Kenya [I even have a cool name for it and everything].

I hope all my readers will visit the new blog once I set it up.

Thanks for all your support and God Bless.

Crocs

I hate these shoes. I can’t even begin to explain how much I hate them. Especially when babes wears them out of the digs. Just ridiculous!

Church

This is the church where our PMCC took place. Any Guesses??

My Car

This was my car a few weeks ago. An American [new to the country] dented it massively. I know I have mentioned many times that I feel zero for this car but it still hurts when it is hurt. It looks much better now! :-)

Mixed Dish

source: ethiopianfood dot wordpress

I pride myself in being honest.

And in all honesty, Habesha – Argwings Kodhek , SUCKS!

Let me give you a history of my love-hate hate-love relationship with Ethiopian food. I hated it, and now I love it.

So last evening, I wanted to eat Ethiopian food and suggested to babes that since I havent eaten the mixed dish from Habesha, that we should try there [I love Smart Village mixed dish but needed a change, even the waiters know us now... :-) ].

Anyway, so we always have the mixed dish with mixed juice and this is exactly what we ordered. The mixed dish came first and it was just ridiculously bad. Why? Well for one, it did not have the shiro [ground chic peas] which is my most favourite thing about mixed dish and they don’t give you enough injera to eat with so we had to order for extra. The meats tasted bland but the kale was not too rough.

The mixed juice came and it was just a disgrace. Two juices.. that’s all we got, mango and avocado. WHAT THE? When I order a mixed juice minimum juices are usually 4 [This is what I get from expecting the usual superbness I get from Smart Village].

All in all, it was totally AWFUL and I have sworn to never eat there again!

Of Trust Fund Babies

Posted by: Ciiku on: March 17, 2011

We know them. Or have heard of them. These children of “old” money in Kenya. Acting like the Rockefellers’ of this country. You don’t know what they do for a living but they are always sporting trendy cars and always have an overflow of cash to throw around.  They get into accidents for drunken driving and the next day are sporting another ride. They never miss at the bash of bashes and they frown upon children of “new” money.

When did Kenya become so “aristocratic”?? The first time I heard someone tell me that a certain guy was “old money”, I wondered to myself, since when? Is it his? Of course NOT! It is his father or his grandfather’s money. But unlike his father, he takes no interest in the family business or wealth or where it comes from. What matters to him is he can sport the HSE or the Mercedes Sport and that whenever there is a concert, he is hanging out in the VIP section. Does he care that money can end? No. As far as he is concerned, that is something his parents should worry about. Not forgetting that at some point, his father will die and HE will have to figure out where all the money he spends comes from [not from the ATM or cheque like before].

It’s such a shame that this generation of ours has produced some children who do nothing. They wait to be given pocket money or have trust funds. They even go further to ask for their inheritance to be given to them BEFORE the parents pass away. How now?? I am not absolving the parents from any blame (since it’s about upbringing) but in my opinion, no matter how psychopathic you are, you know what is right and what is wrong. So yeah, if I see your lazy and pampered self out and about walking around like you don’t use the bathroom, I will say a prayer, that you may see the light.

The picture of the day: Yaya Towers 2. What an eyesore this building is?? And how long will this case stay in court? They just need to bring this building down.

Open Letter to Telkom Orange

The powers that be at Telkom Orange,

You have really began to suck. Much like Safaricom. I don’t know what the problem is but today, you got to my last nerves. I can’t access the portal for Internet and you charged me for calls between 10 a.m and 5 p.m. even though I am subscribed to that tarriff where calls are free between this time. And when I called customer service, I had to endure that silly woman who does the prompts in the fake accent and a customer service guy who seemed irritated that I had called in. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?

With the way we have so much choice in Kenya right now, I would advise you to STEP IT UP! You have one week before I buy an Airtel modem!

Regards,

Ciiku

Is it possible?

Posted by: Ciiku on: March 10, 2011

I’m sitting here wondering if it possible to force yourself to write. Obviously, Im supposed to be working, but those are just details.

I love to write. Actually one of the 101 things to do before I die is to be paid to write something. Yes, I have actually had two articles in the newspaper but I had to do it for where I used to work. Very thankless work if I may add.

Ok, back to the original train of thought, I love to write and I love to read good writing. I like to think my writing has even grown in the years since I started blogging, my life too.

I really had so many things to blog about today but somehow, my hands couldn’t start typing. However, I had to make myself write, even if it this long drivel about forcing myself to write. There is a challenge on wordpress for a post a day and in all honesty, I think its hard to do. I have however challenged myself to blog more – in both blogs- in 2011. I may make this the marriage blog after the wedding – maybe not but I do think that in order to prepare myself for that eventuality, I have to start blogging more now. And make sure to post pictures, because pictures make posts better. Real Talk.

  38. I don’t worry about finances like I used to.
  39. Part of this is due to No. 8 above.

  50. Lamebook is the only popular site that I still read to this date.
